In the historic southern Dublin suburb of Rathgar sits a timeless penthouse thoughtfully designed by Róisín Lafferty of Kingston Lafferty Design. With a commitment to the craftsmanship of Ireland, the Marianella Penthouse stands the test of time with its elegant minimalism.
The soft, earthy colours and materials offer a calming sophistication to the space. The gorgeous walnut floors and joinery guide you in and out of each room. The joinery in particular has a quiet confidence. The white panelling detail in the hallway creates a freshness that’s warm and inviting, in contrast to the unpainted panelling of the study which is bolder, more moody. The muted headboard joinery in the bedroom elevates the blue, green, grey colours and textures throughout.
Each and every piece is in dialogue with its surroundings
The atmospheric artwork shapes the tranquility of each room and the apartment in its entirety. To ground the home in and of Ireland, they carefully selected noteworthy Irish artists and photographers like Hugh O’Connor, Richard Gorman and John Redmond. Each and every piece is in dialogue with its surroundings.
Róisín Lafferty continues to champion Irish creatives. Not only is she the founder of Kingston Lafferty Design, she’s also president of the Institute of Designers in Ireland. Her work is consistently thoughtful and authentic. Marianella Penthouse has a timelessness that feels simple and effortless thanks to her expert curation. Photography © Ruth Maria Murphy
