For a family in Keerbergen, Belgium, our newest partner Mieke Van Herck Architects designed a home that unfolds like a warm cocoon for its residents. Family life formed the basis in this design. All spaces smoothly flow into one another and read like a comfortable luxury story.
At Mieke Van Herck Architects you cannot only go for architecture and interior design projects, the team also provides the perfect design for your garden. Over the years, the architect developed her own style, characterised by sleek architecture, warm interiors, and a smooth transition between inside and outside. By choosing materials of the highest quality and extremely detailed finishes, she provides an elegant home base for all clients. A design is always tailored to the living experience of the residents to achieve the most personal result possible. Residence OF is the perfect illustration of her design vision. The facade was plastered with lime paint and given ultra-minimalist, black frames and windows up to the ceiling. This gives a good indication of the high quality you will find inside as well. On the ground floor, ample space has been created for cooking together, sharing an aperitif, playing sports, or watching a film. The various living functions are housed in different areas, yet there is a strong connection between all rooms. The upper floor creates the impression of a luxury hotel suite where comfort and an ultimate Zen feeling are central. For the children, their own room with bathroom and dressing room was provided. Custom cabinets in bespoke veneer run like a thread through the house, from the bathroom to the kitchen. The majestic, steel bronze doors are a good example of the high-end customisation in this home.

Of course, the personal aspect of the home also had to be extensively addressed. In contrast to the austere architecture, the owner's southern roots are reflected in the warm material choices. Among others, the pronounced marble and brushed veneers immediately attract attention. The mother-of-pearl mosaic tiles in the pool, in turn, add lustre to the outdoors. For the ultimate holiday feeling, the architect also designed a pool house, completely with bar, sauna, and thatched roof. The materials are easy to maintain, making this the perfect space for a party. With large ceiling-to-floor sliding glass doors and a floor that flows seamlessly from inside to outside, the pool house can easily be transformed from a covered terrace in summer to a cosy corner in winter. In this residence, the team of Mieke Van Herck Architects took on every step of the construction process, and this clearly paid off. Indeed, the result is a consistent whole that not only suits its residents perfectly, but also shows what the architect stands for.
