Country houses have something special. The Softland project by Ksenia Bortsova is a perfect example of this. This house in Moscow symbolises the meeting of two like-minded visions that both value a calming minimalism.
Softland is a project for a family of three that does not like unnecessary details. Indeed, in this 205 square metre home, everything has been chosen or omitted with care and reason. The important request for a minimalist space filled with light has also been maximally respected. Since Bortsova shares the vision of her clients, it was not difficult for the interior designer to accommodate them. Moreover, here she had the opportunity to design both the architecture and the interior. On the ground floor, you will find the heart of the house, namely the spacious kitchen and living area. Thanks to the light walls and the large windows, the surroundings and the natural light are used optimally. The kitchen is integrated into the architectural structure of the living area and is thus partially hidden from view. In this way, the kitchen deliberately does not attract much attention and the focus is instead on the large marble island that serves as a dining area.
The Softland design has a lot of charm due to the peaceful use of materials.
The living room is the ideal place for entertaining. The black electric fireplace adds a warm touch to the cool colour palette, and together with the comfortable sofa, ensures that residents and visitors alike are comfortable here. A remarkable aspect is the absent TV screen. Bortsova decided to provide a projector that was fully integrated into the ceiling. In this way, media can be enjoyed without seeing a permanent device hanging on the minimalist walls. That the designer does not overlook a single detail is also shown by the lighting. The linear lamps in the living room neatly match the geometry and rhythm of the entire room. Furthermore, the Softland design has a lot of charm due to the peaceful use of materials, especially the natural combination of wood and stone. In addition to the central living space, this floor also contains a guest toilet, a cloakroom, an entrance hall and an office. The latter was also a special wish of the client since a workplace in the house is no superfluous luxury nowadays. This room is also the only colourful element in the house, namely coloured glass that also serves as lighting. On the upper floor are the private rooms. These include a large master bedroom with a separate dressing room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Here, the thoughtful style of the ground floor is continued effortlessly, making the Softland project a balanced whole with a clear identity. This Moscow country house is a fine example of architecture and interior design that will make us remember Ksenia Bortsova for a long time to come. Her minimalist design is refined and cosy at the same time, which makes for an interesting and impressive result.
