London-based architecture and interior design firm TR Studio recently completed the extensive renovation of a West London townhouse, called TI House. The client's request was to structurally review the internal layout of the property and carry out a contemporary renovation to create a functional and inviting family home.
TR Studio is a rapidly growing group of architects and designers with a passion for materiality, craftsmanship and sustainability, who are always looking for beauty and balance in all things. Their goal is to design as their clients live - with elegance, joy and personality.
Natural materials and rustic accessories create a rich environment.
TR Studio designed a four-storey townhouse in Chelsea, called TI House. The renovation made it more open and created a dramatic interior. The staircase is centrally placed and creates a sense of symmetry. It gives access to a new main kitchen, dining and living space on the elevated ground floor. Here, the studio removed several walls and extended the property into the garden. The use of floor-to-ceiling sliding doors and a glass roof creates a light and airy interior. Moreover, they add a touch of tradition to the modern look of the open floor. The neutral colour palette consisting of chalky, earthy tones is used throughout the property. In the large living space, a mix of grooves, mid-century furniture, natural materials and rustic accessories create a rich environment with lots of texture. The bespoke kitchen is a contemporary delight, made from cross-cut oak veneers, marble and satin brass accents. It evokes understated luxury. Oak floors were also chosen to maintain cohesion, while a continuous wooden handrail runs playfully throughout the house, connecting each room. TI House is a unique family home that is both beautiful and functional. It is a perfect example of modern luxury and uses space, light, natural materials and neutral tones to create a serene interior with a timeless feel.
